Crash & Error
KineMaster keeps crashing. What can I do?

App crashes can happen for many different reasons. The cause of any particular crash is rarely easy to identify.

Here are some standard troubleshooting steps to take:

1. Make sure you are using the latest version of KineMaster from Google Play Store.

2. Make sure that your device's internal storage has enough free space.

3. Reset KineMaster. (you will not lose your KineMaster projects when doing this)
 - Open KineMaster >> Create>> Settings >> Reset app

4. Reboot your device.

If you continue to experience crashes, please contact us using Email Support below. Please provide us with as many details as possible, including the description of the actions taken right before KineMaster crashes, or a screen-recording of the steps taken before the crash.

Media files are filled with slanted lines on the timeline, and/or it says my files are missing. What should I do?

A media file filled with slanted lines on the timeline means that KineMaster is unable to locate the image or video. This happens when the image or video is moved to another folder, deleted, or renamed.

If you try to preview a project with a missing file or save it as a video, an error message will alert you that some media files in the project are missing.

You can fix projects with this error by doing one of the following:
* Replace the missing file with another media file by tapping the Replace Media button
* Delete the missing file from the project

After doing any one of these things, you will be able to preview your project and save it as a video.

I can't close ads. What should I do?

KineMaster works with several advertising providers. To investigate the issue you experienced, we need to identify which provider displayed the ad.

You can check this by tapping the ad information icon (i) in the corner of the ad.

Here are some examples for reference. Please send us a screen recording of this process via 'Email Support', and we will be happy to assist you further.

Compatibility & Capability
On what Android devices can I install and use KineMaster?

KineMaster can be installed on phones or tablets running Android 8.0 and higher. If your device is running a version of Android below 8.0, you won't be able to install KineMaster on it.

Can I install and run KineMaster on PCs such as Windows laptops and MacBooks?

KineMaster is optimized for Android and iOS devices. KineMaster can be installed on most Android phones, Android tablets, iPhones, and iPads.

Apple laptops and desktops that have Apple Silicon processors (M1, M2, etc.) are able to run apps for iOS and iPadOS. However, KineMaster is not available for Windows, MacOS (Intel), or Linux.

How can I check resolution capability and add layers?

In order to check the highest resolution and the number of layers your device is capable of supporting, please follow the steps below:

1- Tap Create >> tap Settings (the gear icon on the upper right)
2- Tap Device Performance Information >> tap Analyze Device Performance (the analysis can take up to few minutes, please do not turn off KineMaster or switch to another app as it will interrupt the progress)

Once the analysis is done, it will show the highest resolution your device can support, as well as the number of layers supported.

Note: If your device supports higher resolution recording (e.g 4K), it doesn't mean it will support 4K editing in KineMaster, these limitations are to ensure the stabitility of KineMaster running in your device.

Why can't I edit 4K video or save as a 4K video after editing?

Many mobile devices allow you to record 4K video. Unfortunately, not all devices capable of recording 4K video are able to edit 4K video and save as a 4K video in KineMaster.

On devices that support 4K recording but not 4K editing, KineMaster provides the option to re-encode 4K videos at 1440p or 1080p.

How can I make a lower resolution copy of a video and what is the 'Transcode' tool for?

Making a lower resolution copy to transcode is done automatically when adding a video that is above the device capability. KineMaster will ask you to transcode the video. If you tap 'OK' it will be added to your project at a lower resolution video, which you can edit and save.

You can change the resolution of video clips already added to your project with the Transcode tool. This is helpful when you encounter device limitations (when that happens, your video clips have lines on them). To add additional media to your project, you can transcode your video clips to a lower resolution. To access the Transcode tool:

-Tap the video clip > tap "Transcode" in the Options Panel on the right side of the screen> select options

Note: KineMaster supports up to 4K/2160p video. Please make sure your video does not exceed 4K/2160p.

What video and audio file formats does KineMaster support?

KineMaster supports the following file formats:

Video File Formats as Input
- MP4 / MOV / 3GP containing H.264(AVC) or H.265(HEVC) video codecs and AAC or PCM audio codecs
* Not all file formats may be supported on your device. This also depends on the media support of the device itself.
* Not all H.264 or H.265 videos may be supported on a device, because some videos, especially videos created from external devices such as DSLRs, drones, or other mobile devices may use profiles and levels beyond your device's capability.
* Some devices support H.264 only, while others support both H.264 and H.265.

Audio-only File Formats as Input
- MP3 containing MPEG Audio Layer 3 audio codec
- AAC / M4A containing AAC audio codec
- WAV containing PCM
* Audio files protected by DRM will not be able to be used in KineMaster projects due to copyright protections.

Image File Formats as Input
- JPEG / PNG / WebP / BMP / GIF

Video File Format for Saving
- MP4 containing H.264 video codec and AAC audio codec

Various problems occur when editing screen-recording videos. What can I do?

Screen recordings may cause unexpected editing issues including choppy playback in the preview screen, problems with the split & trim tool, as well as errors in saving the project as a video.

If you have issues with screen recordings, please re-encode your video with KineMaster:

Here's how to re-encode a screen recording:
1. Tap the video you would like to reencode >> tap Transcode from the option panel on the right side of the screen
2. Select the transcode settings >> confirm the Transcode

I can't find AI features in my device (AI Style, Magic Remover, Noise Remover, Super Resolution, Music Match, Auto Caption, Text to Speech, etc)

AI features in KineMaster (AI Style, Magic Remover, Noise Remover, Super Resolution, Music Match, Auto Caption, Text to Speech, etc) require certain device specifications to work.

Your device must have at least 4 GB of RAM. If your device does not meet this requirement, some AI features may not appear in the app.

Project & Backup
How do I rename my projects?

To rename your projects, please follow the steps below:

1. Tap Create >> Locate the project you want to rename >> Tap the three dots (More).
2. Select
Rename out of the options.
3. Rename the project and tap on the verified button.

My projects got deleted, how can I retrieve them?

There are a lot of factors that can cause the files to get deleted and it is difficult for us to determine the cause if we don't have the same device or a pattern of the issue.

If you have already exported the project as .kine file, you can import it back to KineMaster. If that's not the case, it is out of our hands to help you recover the project files. However, to check the issue in details, if there is any pattern that you notice before the projects get deleted, please tap on Email Support below and let us know the exact step taken before the projects got deleted.

Will I lose my projects when I delete (uninstall) KineMaster or clear app data?

Yes. All the projects created in KineMaster 5.0 or higher will be deleted if you delete (uninstall) the KineMaster app. Clearing app data in your device settings will also remove all of your KineMaster projects.

Occasionally, some devices may encounter issues related to crashes, lag, or unrecognized subscriptions. Do not delete (uninstall) KineMaster or clear app data. Please reset KineMaster using Reset in the in-app Settings option (KineMaster >>Create>> Settings >> Reset app).

How do I back up projects before I delete (uninstall) KineMaster?

When you delete (uninstall) KineMaster and reinstall it, all your KineMaster projects will be deleted too.

To keep KineMaster projects, you must back up the projects you want using Export as .kine file (KineMaster >> Tap Create on bottom right of the screen >> Tap three dots... for project menu >> Export as .kine file).

Please make sure the .kine file is not saved inside KineMaster folder.
On iOS: Change from ‘KineMaster’ folder >> choose ‘On My iPhone/On My iPad’ and save it in any other folder
On Android: Choose any other folder than ‘KineMaster’

After reinstalling KineMaster, you can restore the backed up projects tapping Create on bottom right of the screen >> Create New and using the Import button on upper right.

Can I sync my projects with different devices?

With KineMaster 5.0 or higher, you can copy a project (and keep editing!) from one device to another.

KineMaster allows you to export your project as a .kine file, which contains project information and your media. When you transfer a .kine file to another device, you can import it into KineMaster version 5.0 and higher.

After the .kine file is imported, you can continue to edit the project or just export the project.

KineMaster versions below 5.0 do not have the ability to import or export .kine files. For this feature, updating KineMaster is required.

Where are the old projects that I have made in the previous version?

For Android users, if you have existing projects with previous version 5.2 and you updated to 6.x, you will be able to see them once you tap on the 'Create' button.

For iOS users, you need to transfer the projects from KineMaster 5.2 by exporting them as .kine file and import them back to the new KineMaster 6.x.
- To export a project from KineMaster 5.2, run KineMaster >> tap See all >> Select a project by tapping (…) >> Export Project (.kine file)
- To import a project to KineMaster 6.x, run KineMaster >> tap 'Create' >> tap 'Create New' >> tap 'Import' button on the top right of the screen >> tap the project

Exported project will generally go to the Downloads folder in your device, although when you export the project, you can choose the location.
- For Android: My files >> Internal Storage >> Downloads
- For iOS: Files >> KineMaster.

When I transfer the .kine file from Android to iOS, the text and other edits are different, is there a way to prevent that?

If you transfer .kine file from Android to iOS, the text and other things can be different.

If you have exported a .kine file from Android and transfer it to an iOS device, the project will open without any problems. However, some things may appear different: Text might be a different size, Split-Screen might not be in the same position, and Pan & Zoom might not have a red dot to indicate that it is active. If you used System fonts (not fonts from the Asset Store), they will be totally different on iOS. If you would like to maintain the same fonts while transfering the .kine file from Android to iOS, please use the fonts from the Asset Store.

Can I use assets from the Asset Store with videos to be published commercially?

All assets available for download on the Asset Store can be used for personal or commercial (including monetized YouTube videos) purposes. However, music usage rights on YouTube require your channel to be registered with KineMaster.

Assets available on the Asset Store are either copyrighted by KineMaster or licensed by KineMaster for redistribution. In both cases, you can publish projects or video template that use assets from the Asset Store wherever you wish.

My video received a copyright claim on music I downloaded from the Asset Store. How do I deal with it?

First, please check the Content Owner, listed in the copyright claim. This information can be found in the email from YouTube and in the video details.

1. If the content owner is Source Audio

Register your YouTube channel in the KineMaster app to resolve the copyright claim. You can register your channel by logging in to your KineMaster account on the Me screen.

For detailed instructions, please refer to License & Copyright > How do I register my YouTube channel? in the FAQ.

2. If the content owner is not Source Audio

The copyright claim was not made by KineMaster. Please submit a dispute through YouTube.

How do I register my YouTube channel?

Upon registering a YouTube channel through the KineMaster app, all videos made using KineMaster's music assets will be eligible for monetization on YouTube. Previously uploaded videos on the registered YouTube channel will also remain eligible for monetization.

You may need to update the KineMaster app to register your YouTube channel.

YouTube channel registration is supported in:
- KineMaster 8.0.7 or newer (Android)
- KineMaster 8.0.9 or newer (iOS)

How to register your YouTube channel

2. Sign into your KineMaster account.
- If you don’t have an account, please create one.
3. Tap the three-line menu (top-right corner).
4. Tap 'My YouTube Channel'.
5. Enter your YouTube handle (@handlename) and tap Check now.
- A handle is a unique channel ID that starts with @. You can find it under your channel name on your YouTube channel page (example: @KineMaster).
6. After the channel is identified, confirm it is the correct channel and tap 'Register'.

If you do not register your channel, copyright claims will restrict your monetization earnings on future payments from Google AdSense. Please register to ensure that no claims affect your channel.
- After registering your channel, it will take 1 to 7 days for the registration to be reflected on YouTube. During this period, copyright claims may appear on uploaded videos. However, after registration is completed on YouTube, such claims will automatically be released. You can verify the release status in YouTube Studio.
